My recent stay at the Townhouse Hotel Manchester was marred by disappointing customer service and an overall lack of courtesy, particularly from the receptionist, Rebecca. Upon arrival for a four-night business trip, I encountered an uncooperative and dismissive attitude from her. Despite not having a reservation number due to a company booking through an agency, I provided all necessary information, including my name and booking confirmation email. However, Rebecca stubbornly insisted on seeing a non-existent reservation number, only to eventually check me in using just my name, which left me questioning the purpose of the initial hassle. Moreover, Rebecca demanded an additional £4 city tax, refusing to charge the company-provided credit card that typically covers such expenses. Her refusal to cooperate or even engage constructively with our travel agency, who called to clarify the situation, further exemplified her poor service. Shockingly, she also claimed no manager was available to address the issue, a response that seemed highly improbable and unprofessional. The situation escalated two days later when my room key malfunctioned. While at the reception, I observed Rebecca easily accommodating another guest’s request to charge a £1 city tax to a company card—the exact request she had denied me. This stark inconsistency in service, favouring another guest over me, was not only frustrating but also deeply insulting. Given this experience, I have resolved never to return to the Townhouse Hotel Manchester. I have also recommended that our agency exclude this hotel from our list of options to prevent future colleagues from enduring similar treatment.

Spent a week at this hotel and the staff are very friendly. Florinda was very nice and very helpful. Many thanks to all the staff for their welcoming hospitality. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable the walk in shower was amazing. Thank you to all the staff at this hotel.

Had a lovely two night stay here visiting our son. Breakfast was excellent, full english as well as other choice of foods. Rooms were nice. Needs a little paint job but still OK. Would def come back here. Bed was comfy too with extra pillows. Hairdryer, safe iron and ironing board in room.

Room I was first allocated was disgusting, the smell in there was like a sewage farm. Room was changed immediately I reported the smell, surely pre let checks take place! Two huge beds, pillows a bit hit and miss, one full and fluffy another seemed like it had no filling! Shower, you have to turn off the water to lather up, as the shower is about an inch wider than a person. In the bathroom peeling paint, mould and dust like nothing on earth, windows looked they had never been cleaned. Food, had Fish, chips and peas! Fish, a soggy tasteless mess, chips were fries, some were hot, others cold and the peas would have served Nelson better they were harder than canon balls! Not the cleanest hotel, I have stayed in better Premier Inns. Perhaps a major refit again, as one member told me they have had a refit! Sorry I must have missed that part. Staff were pleasant and helpful, thank you. Sorry for a negative review but I speak as I find.

Professes to be a 4* - it’s NOT. Better rooms at Premier Inn!!! Rooms are cold as heating set low, bathrooms are shoddy 1980s small square shower cubicle with plastic tray and aluminium/glass panels. TVs are old, remotes control not the correct ones so don’t work properly and the TV sound has high base so is muffled. I tried to pay the “City Tax” with cash and they refused saying they only take card and they wouldn’t put it on my business card so I would have to waste time putting in a second claim. Many better options!
